Lego 21109 Exo Suit available in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, UAE and the Gulf region at Brickspage.

Selected by Lego Ideas members (formerly known as CUUSOO), this exciting model first appeared in the unofficial book, Lego Space, written by Lego fan and builder, Peter Reid.

Featuring posable limbs, opening cockpit, grabbing claws and an intricate, modular form that you can tune and adjust to suit the most challenging missions, this amazing Exo Suit captures the essence of Classic Space design – and for the first time in 30 years, Lego have kitted out Pete and Yve in green spacesuits with Classic Space logo.

Background

Prior to release on August 1, 2014, this highly collectible set has Lego fans especially Lego Classic Space fans – counting down to the official release with great anticipation. The Lego Exo Suit was originally created by Peter Reid, an avid Lego fan.

Full of unconventional construction techniques and so out of the box of standard Lego sets, it was voted on by the public on Lego Ideas (formerly known as CUUSOO) to become an official set.

The original design by Peter Reid, though looking extremely cool, is fragile and not suitable for play. Mark Stafford, well known Lego designer for mech, took up the task to redesign the set according to LEGO’s standards of playability, sturdiness and current parts selection.

Working closely and remaining as true as possible to Peter’s design that people had voted for, Mark’s dedication is shown in every detail of the Exo Suit including kitting out the signature robot turtle that Peter Reid is well known for - rightly so even the astronaut minifigures Pete and Yve were named after Peter Reid himself and girlfriend Yvonne, and in green colour for the very first time.

A great number of LEGO CUUSOO / LEGO Ideas sets had been released before the Lego Exo Suit, all had but one thing in common - most of them were based on someone else’s design or intellectual property (IP).

It is great seeing Pete Reid‘s Exo Suit becoming the first original idea to be turned into a LEGO Ideas set. While not to everyone’s appeal, a highly collectible exciting set for Lego classic space fan, so much so it is now becoming ‘hard to find’ on Lego’s website.
